“Random” Replaced Logic in Music Players

Automatic playlist maker offers relief to millions eager to play DJ

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Fairfield County, CT – December 14, 2007) The release of PlayDJ music scheduling and playlist generating software to the consumer marketplace was announced by Daldar, LLC of Danbury, Connecticut.

This newly developed software allows iPod(R) and iTunes (R) users on PCs the ability to leap beyond the current standard of random playback and create Scheduled Playlists where similarly-categorized songs are separated for the best possible variety.

“With over 200 million units in the marketplace, there’s no question people love their iPods,” comments Tom Zarecki, VP/Marketing at Daldar, “However, our 2007 research revealed a large segment of users would love them more if used to their full potential, and that’s what PlayDJ does. It strengthens the power of the iPod and iTunes music model by scheduling the music in a logical, mathematical way for more balanced and diverse results.”

The Pain of Random…relieved

Explaining what triggered the need for this product, Zarecki adds, “Many people simply put their player in ‘random’ and let it play. Over time, users notice some songs or artists are played more often while others play rarely, if at all. We call that the ‘pain of random’, and that’s what PlayDJ addresses: removing that pain, saving time, and making the iPod/iTunes experience more exciting than ever by creating more powerful playlists.”

The patented software inside PlayDJ manipulates the iTunes database in new ways, including transforming a Raw Playlist of selected songs into a Scheduled Playlist, that is, a musical sequence balanced across multiple characteristics based on the content of that particular list. Previously, creating similarly balanced lists would take hours because the process was manual.

Scheduled Playlists created by PlayDJ offer an even spread of artists, genres, ratings and other musical characteristics. The user can customize further if desired [see graphic #2, attached] to create a playlist of any length which can be viewed or played instantly from iTunes, or synched with an iPod for taking balanced music on-the-go.
